At the core of an advanced driving experience is an advanced engine and the TL has two options for you to choose from. Standard in the TL, but not at all standard, is an adrenaline-boosting 3.5-litre, 24-valve, SOHC, VTEC® V6 engine. TL models with Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™ are upgraded to a 3.7-litre, 24-valve, SOHC, VTEC V6 engine – one of the most powerful Acura engines available today. Both engines are forged in aluminum for lighter weight and improved durability. Both feature Multi-Point Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI®) to give you increased fuel-efficiency while still providing optimal power output. And both will get your heart racing at the push of a button.

Generous horsepower and torque

Whether it’s the 305 hp and 273 lb.-ft. of torque produced by the available 3.7-litre VTEC power plant, or the 280 hp and 254 lb.-ft. of torque imparted by the 3.5-litre VTEC engine, the TL will never leave you looking for power. An array of powerband-enriching technologies, including our revolutionary VTEC engine tuning, allow for immediate and effortless acceleration every time you need it. Stick with the standard 6-speed automatic transmission to further enhance performance and fuel efficiency, or opt for the increased control that comes from the available close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission*.

VTEC®

A race-inspired Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC) engine shatters the idea that balancing low-end torque and high-end power requires a compromise. Utilizing two entirely different camshaft profiles, the TL offers you amazingly responsive power across the complete rpm range. Off the line, the engine provides lower valve lift and a shorter cam profile opening, resulting in higher fuel velocities and greater low-end torque. As your demand for engine speed increases, VTEC switches to a cam profile with a higher valve lift and a longer opening duration, resulting in greater airflow and a bigger boost of high-end horsepower.

Sport Suspension

The TL’s 4-wheel independent front double-wishbone and rear multi-link suspension system offers you the kind of stability and flat cornering response you might expect – but have probably never truly felt. The front suspension utilizes a short upper arm for maximum grip and turning compression while a high-placed lower suspension arm delivers superb vehicle control with a stiffer steering feel. The rear suspension features a precision pillow joint for enhanced handling and stability. Together, they deliver confidence on any road surface.

Electronic Power Steering (EPS)

At high speeds, you need performance steering, at low speeds you need maneuverability, at any speed, you need a steering system that reacts to your every move. The TL’s speed-sensing Electronic Power Steering (EPS) system does just that, giving you ease of control through tight city turn-arounds, bending back roads, sweeping highway curves and every turn in between.

Paddle shifters

Racing-inspired paddle shifters mounted intuitively behind the TL’s leather-wrapped steering wheel not only pair the excitement of manual gear shifting with the performance of an already quick-shifting 6-speed automatic transmission, they also help seamlessly pair your instincts with those of the TL.

Controlled confidence

The available Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD®) system intuitively senses road conditions and reacts accordingly by alternating torque from front to rear wheels, as well as splitting rear-wheel torque from left to right for a continuously smooth ride. The result is enhanced traction, stable cornering, and increased confidence to not just turn the next corner, but to take it.
