Before race-inspired VTEC engineering, engine tuning was a compromise between balancing low-end torque and high-end power. Utilizing two entirely different camshaft profiles enables VTEC engines to deliver amazingly responsive power across the full rpm range. At low speeds, the engine offers lower valve lift and a shorter cam profile opening, resulting in higher fuel velocities and greater low-end torque. But as your demand for speed increases, the engine switches to a cam profile with higher valve lift and longer opening duration, resulting in enhanced airflow and a huge boost in high-end rpm power.

Based on your driving conditions, electronic sensors ensure precision shifting between gears and optimal engine response by continuously monitoring the power required.
